What’s it all about?
In the Sahel region of Africa, people suffer some of the worst levels of malnutrition in the world. And yet tree seeds, berries, leaves, fruits, nuts and even the sap of trees can provide essential nutrients that their diets otherwise lack. With TREE AID’s help in growing and protecting trees, villagers can have more of these foods. Tree foods are vital when other crops fail, an all too regular occurrence in a region stalked by drought. At these times, they can mean the difference between life and death. What’s more, by selling some of the many products available from trees, villagers can have the money to buy food daily - providing a lifeline during famine. So, please hold a TREE AID Cake Taste to raise vital funds and spread the word. Ask friends, neighbours, colleagues, or if you are a church goer, members of your congregation to make a donation to TREE AID to try out delicious cakes made with tree ingredients such as nuts, fruit, chocolate and maple syrup. It’s an inspiring way for people to appreciate and learn about the vital role trees play in feeding villagers in Africa and to support them in their fight against poverty. As well as the recipe booklet, TREE AID will provide you with everything you need, including invites and information on TREE AID, to raise as much money as possible while having a great time. If you are unable to hold a TREE AID cake taste but still want to help, then we welcome donations to TREE AID. |
